Women’s Cancer Awareness Group awarded the 2012 “Inspiration Award” to Kathleen Mott, RN, MS,WHNP-BC of Redwood Regional Medical Group in Santa Rosa, California. The award was presented
to Ms. Mott at WCAG’s Third Annual “Day for Women” event March 31, 2012 at the Petaluma Community Center at a conference that drew approximately 200 participants.

About the Award: In its inaugural year, the Inspiration Award honors an outstanding San Francisco BayArea woman who has supported health, hope and awareness within the cancer community. Six finalists were selected by a panel of judges, and Mott was selected the winner from this distinguished pool of nominees.
About the Honoree: Kathleen Mott received the most nominations and was cited for her dedication and commitment to providing cancer services to North Bay women. Mott currently coordinates the Cancer
Risk and Assessment and Genetics Program for Redwood Regional Medical Group. Among her many achievements include:

  • Initiating a program providing access for more than 5,000 women to a pilot program, Sonoma County Risk Assessment Program, that assesses inherited cancer risk, only the 8th site in the U.S. to have such a life-saving program.
  • Securing more than $400,000 of funding for Sonoma County cancer-related programs
  • Initiating a partnership that provides free genetic cancer testing for high-risk Hispanic women.
